"Try' A Trade"
Recently students from several Western Sydney schools attended BREED's Try-A-Trade expo. 1000 students took part in a hands-on learning experience of over 20 different trades over two days. Some of the trades offered were;
  • Automotive
  • Baking
  • Beauty Therapy
  • Bricklaying
  • Business Services
  • Carpentry
  • Child Care
  • Cabinetmaking / Joinery
  • Computing
  • Cooking
  • Electrical
  • Fitting and Machining
  • Floristry
  • Hairdressing
  • Horticulture
  • Plumbing
  • Vehicle Painting
  • Welding
  • Signcraft
  • Nursing
  • Tiling.

    All trades were demonstrated and supervised by TAFE teachers and trades people who volunteered their time.



    Police Academy Visit


    50 students from Blacktown schools visited the Police Academy in Goulburn this month to gain an insight into what careers choices are available with the NSW Police Service. Students visited the driver training course, the shooting range and got a hands on experience with the handcuffs. This is the second year the visit has been organised by BREED and has been a sucessful event for our local youth and is supported by four local police commands with four Youth & School Liaison Officer accompanying the tour.








    School 2 Work Expo


    In conjunction with three neighbouring LCP's BREED participated in the School 2 Work Expo at Penrith Panthers this month. Approximately 1500 people attended the expo. Parents and students were able to discuss career opportunities with representatives from industry, local careers advisors, teachers and trainers in areas such as Infomation Technology, Metals & Engineering, Electro-Technology, Entertainment, Construction, Hospitality, Tourism, Accounting, Automotive, Retail, Health and many more.
